Become a HiSET Prep Tutor: Change a Life, Two Hours at a Time

At Women In Charge, we believe it’s never too late to achieve your dreams. Our students—women aged 17 to 70—are working hard to build better futures for themselves and their families. By helping them pass the HiSET (High School Equivalency) exam, you aren’t just teaching a subject; you are unlocking doors to higher education, better careers, and newfound confidence.

We are looking for encouraging volunteers to coach students in one of the core HiSET subjects: Reading, Writing, Math, Science, or Social Studies.

Why Volunteer With Us?

  • Make a Tangible Impact: See the direct results of your mentorship as your student passes subtests and inches closer to graduation.
  • Everything is Provided: No prior teaching experience? No problem. We provide all the curriculum, practice tests, training, and support you need.
  • A Manageable Commitment: You can completely change the trajectory of a woman’s life in less than two hours a week.

The Details

  • When: Monday–Thursday, between 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM.
  • Commitment: Just one session (1.5 to 2 hours) per week. We ask for a consistent weekly day to help our students stay on track.
  • Where: In person at our University City location.
  • Qualifications: A solid grasp of high school-level concepts in your chosen subject. (An education background or comfort with Algebra I & II is a major plus, but not required!)
